Bubble

Gaga has a bubble dress and a bubble piano, I will be discussing both of them. The Bubble dress is in and a creation of The Haus of Gaga. The dress was created by the haus around the time the song Paparazzi was released. Gaga has worn this outfit many times during the Fame Tour. The bubbles on the dress aren’t real bubbles, they are made of plastic. She made a smaller version of the dress that is a vest. The vest is easier to get out of since Gaga makes many outfit changes during her performances. The bubble dress was on SNL before during a skit with Andy Samberg.  The plot line for the skit  is Samberg realizing that he is wearing the same Bubble Dress (for the SNL after-party) as Gaga, leading to an uncomfortable exchange. At the end of the skit, they find that Lorne Michaels has also encountered the same problem, wearing a tie with bubble attachments. A replica was made for an episode of Glee for the character Tina.

The bubble piano was inspired by the bubble dress but made by a different designer. It is filled with plastic bubbles and lights up. The outfit and piano is quite amazing. When it first debuted it was on most popular magazines. She modeled with the dress for over fifteen photo shoots. The dress and piano is so unique, I doubt that anyone else would want a bubble or piano.

Pyro-Bra

It wears like a normal bra, except for the fact that the device is controlled by a remote control used by Gaga to shoot sparks. Gaga said that the pyro-bra represents how the female body can be used as a weapon. Gaga’s critic’s have said that her pyro-bra is a rip-off of Madonna’s cone bra designed by Jean Paul Gaultier who is now designing for Gaga. Gaga said the inspiration for the bra came to her during vacation in hawaii. “I called him from Hawaii [June 2009] and I was like, Matty [Matthew Williams (Dada)], we need to make my tits blow up!” Matty or Dada said it wasn’t possible to light her tits on fire without a fire permit. She told him “You will find a way”, then she hung up on him with out letting him saying anything. Matty or Dada called later with the a sparkler bra idea with a company called Tom Talmon Studio. Dada or Matthew described the bra as ” “It’s really just sparklers—the old sparklers on the tits trick.” However, the effect is really created using high-speed miniature motors outfitted with special carbide grinding wheels. When Ferrocerium rods are pushed into the wheels the sparks are produced. Lady Gaga first debuted the accessory during the ending of the Poker Face performance at the MuchMusic Video Awards in 2009. It was later featured in the music video for Bad Romance. Gaga also created another type of sparkler underwear shown on the picture to the right. The underwear shoots the sparklers down-wards from the crotch area. This accessory debuted during the “Paparazzi” performance, at The Monster Ball Tour of 2010, and was worn again on Gaga’s appearance, on the cover of TIME magazine.

Black crystal catsuit

This outfit was designed by Gaga herself. The catsuit is made up of latex. Usually the catsuit is paired with the Mirror mask (to the right) and a latex head scarf. The suit comes with black latex peek-toe heels, matching the rest of the outfit. Gaga also has black latex finger gloves that go with the outfit. The Mirror mask also first debuted in the music video “Poker Face”. She has since worn it during her live preferences at the monster ball, (Gaga’s live tour.) This costume projects glamor, the ideas of female sexuality, and it reflects upon the ideas of “masking ourselves”, and the truth. In this case, ones’ sexuality. This outfit was used in the music video “Poker Face”. This outfit brings common aspects of theatrical materials such as mirrors, glitter, latex, and masks.

Daffodil dress

The dress was used for a short scene in Gaga’s music video “Eh eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)”. The dress is short, sorta looks like a corset, and comprised manly of daffodils. The reason Gaga used this dress was to represent happiness in the scene. Yellow is a bright color and also represents happiness. Her make-up, glasses, and hair don’t distract from the dress. The daffodil dress is the main visual attraction during those particular scenes. She has also used the dress in a photo shoot in 2009 in Munich. She did the photo shoot with Michael Wilfiling as the photographer. Gaga also used the dress in a photo shoot with Roba.
