Judas (song and music video)

The song is the second single off her Born This Way album. The song was supposed to be released April 19th, but it was actually released four days earlier. Gaga said “It’s a weekend treat for my little monsters.” During an interview with Elvis Duran, Gaga stated that the song is about “always falling in love with the wrong men.”

Here is a list of all the biblical references that there are in the lyrics of the song:

  • “I’ll wash his feet with my hair if he needs” – It’s a reference to Mary Magdalene, who washed Jesus’ feet and wipes them with her hair
  • “Even after three times he betrays me” – It’s a reference to Peter who denies Jesus three times when he is arrested before the following cockcrow

The music video premiered on the tenth episode of American Idol. The music video was actually banned in Lebanon due religious concerns. Giving some background on the song, Gaga explained that “It’s no surprise, I’m sure, to many of you, that Judas is a man of the biblical senses, so expect to see some symbolism in this video.” She continued explaining that the song/video is about confronting one’s demons. “You have to look into what is haunting you and you need to look into forgiving yourself in order to move on. And it’s really fun to dance to and sounds like it could be a pop priest record.”  Gaga tweeted some of the lyrics before it was released, “I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel, but I’m still in love with Judas, Baby. JUDAS FASHION. so excited i can’t sleep!” Gaga revealed that she designed one of her outfits from the music video. Gaga designed the outfit but the Haus of Gaga made it.

The outfit and make-up in this video is quite amazing!!! I love it, it’s amazing. So different so original. It’s become a popular make-up design in youtube videos.

Bad Romance (music video)

The movie director for this video is Frances Lawrence. He also made recent video “Judas”. Gaga said, “I knew his ability as a director is so much higher than what I could do.” She goes on and says, “I wanted somebody with a tremendous understanding of how to make a pop video, because my biggest challenge working with directors is that I am the director and I write the treatments and I get the fashion and I decide what it’s about and it’s very hard to find directors that will relinquish any sort of input from the artist, But Francis and I worked together.  It was collaborative. He’s a really pop video director and a filmmaker. He did I Am Legend and I’m a huge Will Smith fan, so I knew he could execute the video in a way that I could give him all my weirdest, most psychotic ideas, But it would come across to and be relevant to the public.”

The video starts with Gaga being kidnapped and drugged by some super models and then she gets sold to the Russian mafia. In this video you see Gaga’s  Pyro-bra which I have talked about before.

These outfits are so amazing. It’s quite amazing actually, if you pay attention to all the different outfits, not just on Gaga but on the others. The choreography is very complex and it still surprises me that it was done. I love this video’s use of colors and all the sparkles and/or diamonds. Her make-up is done by Billy B. He does an amazing job in it. He really deserves a lot of credit for this.

LoveGame

The song was actually written by Lady gaga in January 2008. “LoveGame” is about the implication of a kiss (“I wanna kiss you”), when you met someone on the dancefloor, and you kiss them. This kiss can lead to either falling in love, or just a quick fuck, and never again speaking to the guy or girl. In an interview Gaga said that her inspiration for the line, “Let’s have some fun this beat is sick, I wanna take a ride on your disco stick.” “ It’s another of my very thoughtful metaphors for a cock. I was at a nightclub, and I had quite a sexual crush on somebody, and I said to them, ‘I wanna ride on your disco stick’. The next day, I was in the studio, and I wrote the song in about four minutes. When I play the song live, I have an actual stick — it looks like a giant rock-candy pleasuring tool — that lights up.” I have talked about the Disco Stick before.

The music video for this song was started being made around January 2009 but was released February 13, 2009. The setting is New York. The video mainly takes place in a subway station.   The video starts with three men moving through Times Square. They open a man-hole with the cover “Haus of Gaga”. Gaga is then shown naked with blue and purple paint and glitter on her body, frolicking with two men who has the words “Love” and “Fame” etched on their hair. She carries her trademark ‘disco stick’ and wears chain linked glasses made of barbed wire. The chorus starts with Gaga along with her dancers progressing through the subway and dancing down a staircase. Her trademark dogs, two harlequin Great Danes, are also shown on top of the staircase. This next scene shows Gaga in make-shift kissing and caressing. As the camera pans from right to left the inspector changes from a man to woman in each frame. Gaga said, “This is all part of a movement. My artistry is much deeper than fashion or anything like that. I love pop music, and I want to bring it back. People are truly hungry for this. They generally miss the ’90s and the superfans flooding Times Square, crying and wailing and doing anything to see the fingernail of a star. I want that back, and [the ‘LoveGame’ video] is just another move towards that. ‘LoveGame’ is a genuine New York lifestyle video. It’s got that feeling of ‘gay, black New York,’ of inclusion and glamour,” I wanted to really bring forth the girl that I was four years ago, and I wanted to put it in the setting of the underground subway. I worked with Joseph Kahn, and he did an amazing job. He didn’t just capture the fashion; he captured the artist.”

This video and song is soo interesting and fun. It has a sexy flare to it that attracts people. It is so amazing, the choreography is so unique and interesting.

Poker Face (music video)

The “Poker Face” was premiered on NewNowNext PopLab, on October 29, 2008. The video was filmed at “Bwin PokerIsland”. Bwin also provided the poker equipment, like the poker table, the cards, and the chips. An interesting fact about the video is they originally wanted to shoot the video at a beach in Ibiza. They decided against it at the last minute. Gaga explains that the purpose or the main idea of the video is, “I knew I wanted it to be sexy, so I thought no pants, because that’s sexy, […]And I knew I wanted it to be futuristic, so I thought shoulder pads, because that’s my thing.” The music video takes place by a pool, located on an ocean side villa. The video begins with Lady Gaga emerging out of the pool with her Black crystal catsuit (which I have talked about before).

The story for the video is, Gaga attends a wild party where every man and woman tries their luck on a strip poker game. The party gets wilder when all the party’s guests strip down to their underwear, dance around, and share kisses with each other. The next scene is a lounge sofa with a man and Gaga featuring a hair bow with a nude bodysuit. The following one is Gaga dancing poolside with her dancers in a futuristic turquoise leotard with shoulder pads.

The lyrics for the song are as follows,

Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah

I wanna hold em’ like they do in Texas plays, (Ay)
Fold em’ let em’ hit me, raise it, baby stay with me
(I love it)
LoveGame intuition play the cards with spades to start,
And after he’s been hooked,
I’ll play the one that’s on his heart

Oh, woah, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got
Oh, woah, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got

Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(She got me like nobody)
Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(She got me like nobody)

I wanna roll with him a hard pair we will be (Ay)
A little gambling is fun when you’re with me
(I love it)
Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun
And baby when it’s love,
if its not rough it isn’t fun (fun)

Oh, woah, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh
I’ll get him hot, show him what I’ve got
Oh, woah, oh, oh, oh-oh-e-oh-oh-oh

Kiss or hug you
Cause I’m bluffin’ with my muffin
I’m not lying
I’m just stunnin’
With my love-glue-gunning (Mah)

Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bank before I pay you out
I promise this, promise this
Check this hand ’cause I’m marvelous

Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(She got me like nobody)
Can’t read my, can’t read my
No he can’t read my poker face
(She got me like nobody)

(She got me like nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(She got me like nobody)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)

P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face

Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)

The music video for “Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)” premiered on PerezHilton.com on February 3, 2009. The theme of the music video is 1950’s, futuristic, Italian-American. An interesting fact about this video is that they shoot it back to back with love game music video. The music video was shoot in Los Angeles. When asked about the video Gaga said, “I wanted to show a different side of myself — perhaps a more domestic girly side. And I wanted to create beautiful, stunning ’50s futuristic fashion imagery that would burn holes in everyone’s brains. ”

I really like this music video and the song because it’s different then her more popular songs like, poker face. It’s so slow and calming but cheerful. When I listen to this song I feel like people should be dancing with the song. You can really hear Gaga’s voice in that song.

The first 20 seconds are mainly full of camera shots of different men, Lady Gaga and the city. The first main scene depicts Gaga with some friends laughing and joking in a restaurant while Gaga stand on the seat. Gaga then comes from around the block walking with her friends in pace and singing in the camera. She is shown in a bed asleep, and pulling the cover off to reveal pink high-heeled shoes. GaGa sings and cooks for a man in a house while dancing. She is also shown ironing clothes while the man is on the phone screaming at someone. The two harlequin Great Danes who appear at the start of her “Poker Face” music video, also appear in this one. Finally she lies on a sofa with her legs up on the man. She is seen kissing a man passionately with her “Beats by Dr. Dre headphones” on. One of the last scene shows her in a yellow dress made of flowers and wearing a yellow watch (Daffodil dress) while singing to the song with a unique hairstyle which shows her hair pulled up and folded over. Then the camera quickly goes back to her in bed.

The lyrics to the song is as follows,

Cherry cherry, boom boom
Gaga

Boy we’ve had a real good time
And I wish you the best
On your way
Eh, eh

I didn’t mean to hurt you
I never thought we’d fall
Out of place
Eh, eh

I had something that I love long long
But my friends keepa’ tellin’ me that something’s wrong

Then I met someone
And eh! There’s nothing else I can say

Eh, eh
Eh, eh
There’s nothing else I can say
Eh, eh
Eh, eh
I wish he never looked at me that way
Eh, eh
Eh, eh
There’s nothing else I can say
Eh, eh
Eh, eh

Not that I don’t care about you
Just that things got so compliquées
Eh, eh

I met somebody cute and funny
Got each other and that’s money eh
Eh, eh

I had something that I love long long
But my friends keep telling me that something’s wrong
Then I met someone
And eh!
Cherry cherry, boom boom

All I can say is eh, eh

3-Way (The Golden Rule)

Gaga was on Saturday Night Live on May 21, 2011. The song was written on May 19th and they recorded the next day; they also shoot the video on the 20th. Here is a quote from Gaga about them pitching the skit idea to Gaga,  “I wish that they filmed the backstage scenario as both Justin and Andy Samberg tried simultaneously to pitch this idea to me and they both choked on the way in. Justin was like ‘Umm so umm, we have a skit idea and umm, well I’m not really good at this I’ll have Andy tell you.’ Then Andy came and was like ‘Well umm bluh blah we have this skit idea.’ Then they both came in finally and they told me the story and I’m like, ‘Guys, I get it.’ They’re like ‘We really like each other.” On May 21st, the video was censored the word ‘dick’ in the phrase ‘helicopter dick’.

The lyrics,

Your mom says, “Hi” — Jinx!
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Yeah yeah yeah no no

Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Summertime in the city
And everybody’s having sex

You know I just got a page from a girl that I met last week at the Payless

Shoe stores

I also have a cutie to call who likes the way I knock on her boots

Well let’s help them back
Let’s handle that
In two-to-six hours,
We’ll meet back here and regroup

Now let’s shoop

Roll up to her crib with some Bartles & James
Hop off the bus with the Alizé
Now hold up player, whatchu diggity-doing here?
I should diggity-ask you the same
And she sang

[Lady Gaga]:
Hey, boys I want you both
I hope that you think that’s cool

(Say word?)
I know most guys won’t freak together
She forgot about the Golden Rule — a huh huh

It’s OK to put us in a three-way
It’s not gay when it’s in a three-way
With a honey in the middle there’s some leeway
The area’s grey in a one, two, three-way

Normally, I don’t get down with dudes
But tonight is a special exception (Great)
See you’re my best friend
Through thick and thin
Now it’s time to make a cool connection

Lights off

Here in the dark (Here in the dark)
It’s so hard to tell (So hard to tell)
Where her body ends (La la)
And my homie’s begins (Ew wee)
This rule dates back (The Golden Rule)
To ancient Greece (Takin’ about Caesar)
We’re two Jack Trippers and a Chrissy
The new Three’s Company

You guys are still here.

It’s OK to put us in a three-way
It’s not gay when it’s in a three-way
With a honey in the middle there’s some leeway
The area’s grey in a one, two three-way

Fellas. Get ready.
Do impress the chick
Helicopter d*ck, go! Hellicopter d*ck. Helicopter d*ck
Do impress the chick
Helicopter d*ck

And all of that was OK
‘Cuz it was in a three-way
It’s right there when you see the instant replay (boom)
Maybe two is enough
That’s what they’ll say
But we’ll say, “Hell no.”
It’s a one, two, three-way

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Yoü and I music video

I love the the song but in my opinion this music video wasn’t her best work. For example in beginning of the video the style seemed to be dark like a Marylin Manson’s videos. At first I didn’t get her message in the video but after I researched it and found out that the message was that gaga let her boyfriend do what ever he wanted and changed just to please him.  If she changed her style of clothing like goth then prep instead of human too mermaid then her message would have gotten across. I believe that if you don’t know what the background information of the video then the video will just be an ascetically pleasing video.
