Government Hooker

This song is off Gaga’s Born This Way album. During an interview with Ryan Seacrest Gaga spoke about the song, “It was originally a hip-hop beat, but as we progressed we doubled the speed so it’s now a very hard hitting club track. Some of the lyrics are dirty but it is one of my favorite songs off the record.”  Later on Gaga spoke to MTV and said, “To me, that song is my favorite song, and it’s just a beast. I don’t even know how to explain it. [Born This Way] is not a pop album; it’s a pop masterpiece of music. If there was no category of pop music, you wouldn’t call it pop music. We were in this studio in Vegas, and I was playing some hip-hop stuff [for Gaga’s label boss Vince Herbert], and I ran across this [old beat I had made], and we were talking about faster songs, so I sped it up and I played it for Vince. He was like, ‘Whoa.’ She walked in, and I played it for her and [producer] Fernando [Garibay]. She laid it out in two seconds. She sang over the melody and tuned it up and put the chorus in. She finished it super quick. MTV said what they got from Gaga is, “The guy that’s actually talking, that’s her security guard. We were sitting there thinking how to make a computerized voice, so we were like, ‘Let’s get Pete in here.’ He’s got a super-thick Dutch accent, and he’s trying to read off paper. It was insane, and he just talks like that. That’s what it’s like working with Gaga. It’s like a f—ing supernova. When she walks into a room, things explode. She thinks of sh– that I can’t comprehend. It doesn’t make sense to me, and I’m a creative person. Working with her is totally different than anyone else I’ve ever done anything with. She’s the most hands-on person I’ve ever run into. She could walk into Steve Jobs’ office and tell him he’s doing Apple wrong, and he’d listen. As a producer, it’s super cool to be with somebody who generally cares and is fully involved.

Gaga tweeted that the song was inspired by Marlyn Monroe and other political mistresses.

This is an amazing song. A funny story about me listening to this song. During the summer I had to take the bus to the pentagon to get to my theater job in Shirlington. I was listening to this and my head phones came out and Goverment hooker started blasting at the pentagon. One women in a suit started dancing to it before I could get the head phones back in. It was HILARIOUS.  Here are the lyrics,

Gaga, ga oh-ah
Gaga, ga oh-oh-oh
(Io ritorne, io ritorne.
Io ritorne, io ritorne.)
Goverment Hooker, eh

I can be good,
If you just wanna be bad.
I can be cool,
If you just wanna be mad.
I can be anything,
I’ll be your everything,
Just touch me baby.
I don’t wanna be sad.

As long as I’m your hooker.
(Gov. : Back up and turn around)
As long as I’m your hooker.
(Gov. : Put your hands to the ground)
As long as I’m your hooker.
(Gov. : Back up and turn around)
As long as I’m your hooker.
(Gov. : Get down)

Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, yeah you’re my hooker.
Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, government hooker.
Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, yeah you’re my hooker.
Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, government hooker.

I’m gonna drink my tears tonight,
I’m gonna drink my tears and cry,
‘Cause I know you love me baby,
I know you love me baby.

I could be girl,
Unless you want to be man.
I could be sex,
Unless you want to hold hands.
I could be anything,
I could be everything, (iku, iku)
I could be mom,
Unless you want to be dad. (oh mi papito)

As long as I’m your hooker.
(Gov. : Back up and turn around)
As long as I’m your hooker.
(Gov. : Put your hands to the ground)
As long as I’m your hooker.
(Gov. : Back up and turn around)
As long as I’m your hooker.
(Gov. : Get down)

Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, yeah you’re my hooker.
Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, government hooker.
Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, yeah you’re my hooker.
Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, government hooker.

Put your hands on me,
John. F. Kennedy,
I’ll make you squeal baby,
As long as you pay me.

I’m gonna drink my tears tonight,
I’m gonna drink my tears and cry,
‘Cause I know you love me baby,
I know you love me baby.

Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, yeah you’re my hooker.
Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, government hooker.
Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, yeah you’re my hooker.
Hoo-ooookaaaaaaaa-er, government hooker.

I could be girl, (io ritorne)
Unless you want to be man.
I could be sex, (io ritorne)
Unless you want to hold hands.
I could be anything, (io ritorne)
I could be everything,
I could be mom, (io ritorne)
Unless you want to be dad.

I wanna fuck government hooker.
(Gov. : Back up and turn around)
Stop fucking me government hooker.
(Gov. : Put your hands on the ground)
I wanna fuck government hooker.
(Gov. : Back up and turn around)
Stop fucking me government hooker.
(Gov. : Get down)

Yes.

Beautiful, Dirty, Rich (song)

Gaga actually wrote this song in 2006. She used to it try to get record deals but it didn’t work. She used it to try to get  a record deal by Def Jam, but they dropped her because (as gaga puts it) “They didn’t get it.” This song actually describes Gaga’s life when she was doing ALOT  of cocaine. According to Gaga, it was her first Lady Gaga record and she did everything: the lyrics, the beat and the melody. Later this song helped her get a record deal. Gaga said, “That time, and that song, was just me trying to figure things out, Once I grabbed the reigns of my artistry, I fell in love with that more than I did with the party life.”

Lady Gaga told About.com that “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich” song sums up her time of self-discovery, when she was living in the Lower East Side of New York: “I was doing a lot of drugs when I wrote ‘Dirty Rich.’ It was about two years ago, and it was about a few different things. First and foremost the record is about, whoever you are or where you live, you can self-proclaim this inner fame based on your personal style, and your opinions about art and the world, despite being conscious of it. But it’s also about how on the Lower East side, there was a lot of rich kids who did drugs and said that they were poor artists, so it’s also a knock at that. ‘Daddy I’m so sorry, I’m so, so sorry, yes, we just like to party.’ I used to hear my friends on the phone with their parents, asking for money before they would go buy drugs. So, that was an interesting time for me, but it’s funny that what came out of that record – because it’s about many different things – but ultimately what I want people to take from it is ‘Bang-bang.’ No matter who you are and where you come from, you can feel beautiful and dirty rich.”

This is an amazing song. It shows how personal the music is to Gaga. This song comes from Gaga’s experience. The lyrics are as follows,

Beautiful, dirty dirty, rich rich, dirty dirty
Beautiful dirty rich

Dirty dirty, rich, dirty dirty, rich, beautiful
Beautiful and dirty, dirty rich, rich dirty…

We’ve got a redlight pornagraphic dance fight
Systematic honey
But we got no money

Our hair is perfect while were all getting shit-wrecked
It’s automatic, honey
But we got no money

Daddy I’m so sorry, I’m so s-s-sorry yah
We just like to party like to p-p-party-yah

Bang Bang
We’re beautiful n’ dirty rich
Bang Bang
We’re beautiful n’ dirty rich

We live a cute-life
Soundfanatic
Pants tighter than plastic, honey
But we got no money

We do the dance right
We have got it made like
Ice cream topped with honey
But we got no money

Daddy I’m so sorry, I’m so s-s-sorry yah
We just like to party like to p-p-party-yah

Bang Bang
We’re beautiful n’ dirty rich
Bang Bang
We’re beautiful n’ dirty rich

Bang bang bang
Bang bang bang
Beautiful, Dirty, Rich

Uh
Bang Bang Bang
Bang Bang Bang
Beautiful, Dirty, Rich

Bang Bang
We’re beautiful n’ dirty rich
Bang Bang
We’re beautiful n’ dirty rich

Judas (song and music video)

The song is the second single off her Born This Way album. The song was supposed to be released April 19th, but it was actually released four days earlier. Gaga said “It’s a weekend treat for my little monsters.” During an interview with Elvis Duran, Gaga stated that the song is about “always falling in love with the wrong men.”

Here is a list of all the biblical references that there are in the lyrics of the song:

  • “I’ll wash his feet with my hair if he needs” – It’s a reference to Mary Magdalene, who washed Jesus’ feet and wipes them with her hair
  • “Even after three times he betrays me” – It’s a reference to Peter who denies Jesus three times when he is arrested before the following cockcrow

The music video premiered on the tenth episode of American Idol. The music video was actually banned in Lebanon due religious concerns. Giving some background on the song, Gaga explained that “It’s no surprise, I’m sure, to many of you, that Judas is a man of the biblical senses, so expect to see some symbolism in this video.” She continued explaining that the song/video is about confronting one’s demons. “You have to look into what is haunting you and you need to look into forgiving yourself in order to move on. And it’s really fun to dance to and sounds like it could be a pop priest record.”  Gaga tweeted some of the lyrics before it was released, “I’m just a Holy Fool, oh baby he’s so cruel, but I’m still in love with Judas, Baby. JUDAS FASHION. so excited i can’t sleep!” Gaga revealed that she designed one of her outfits from the music video. Gaga designed the outfit but the Haus of Gaga made it.

The outfit and make-up in this video is quite amazing!!! I love it, it’s amazing. So different so original. It’s become a popular make-up design in youtube videos.

Bad Romance

The song was first played as a short acoustic version, on Saturday Night live. On October 3rd, 2009. The song as a whole premiered on October 6th. It was released digitally (on itunes) twenty days later. Just one day after the song was released it became the number one song in America.

After a concert in Russia, Lady Gaga was in Norway and got the inspiration to write “Bad Romance”. A demo of the song was recorded in Amsterdam with RedOne, this version has less vocal tracks, and has a different beat at the intro and has been changed slightly in the chorus. Towards three quarters into the song, the French verse of the album version is replaced with “I want your love and I want your revenge. I want your love I don’t wanna be friends“. The lyrics in general, talk about exploring the joys of a bad romance but this idea changes during the intermediate bridge when the lyrics talk about fashion. While being interviewed on the November 2, 2009 episode of It’s On with Alexa Chung, Gaga pointed out that she was listing Alfred Hitchcock films (Psycho, Vertigo, and Rear Window) in the verse, “I want your psycho, your vertigo shtick/Want you in my rear window, baby you’re sick.” Gaga said, “What I’m really trying to say is I want the deepest, darkest, sickest parts of you that you are afraid to share with anyone because I love you that much. Along with the rest of the songs from The Fame Monster, “Bad Romance” deals with a monster. This song represents my “Fear of Love Monster“.

This song is amazing BUT it is over played. This isn’t the only good song that went down hill because of being over played. For example Nicki Minaj’s song “Super Bass”. These song are amazing but they have died because of how much it is/was played.

LoveGame

The song was actually written by Lady gaga in January 2008. “LoveGame” is about the implication of a kiss (“I wanna kiss you”), when you met someone on the dancefloor, and you kiss them. This kiss can lead to either falling in love, or just a quick fuck, and never again speaking to the guy or girl. In an interview Gaga said that her inspiration for the line, “Let’s have some fun this beat is sick, I wanna take a ride on your disco stick.” “ It’s another of my very thoughtful metaphors for a cock. I was at a nightclub, and I had quite a sexual crush on somebody, and I said to them, ‘I wanna ride on your disco stick’. The next day, I was in the studio, and I wrote the song in about four minutes. When I play the song live, I have an actual stick — it looks like a giant rock-candy pleasuring tool — that lights up.” I have talked about the Disco Stick before.

The music video for this song was started being made around January 2009 but was released February 13, 2009. The setting is New York. The video mainly takes place in a subway station.   The video starts with three men moving through Times Square. They open a man-hole with the cover “Haus of Gaga”. Gaga is then shown naked with blue and purple paint and glitter on her body, frolicking with two men who has the words “Love” and “Fame” etched on their hair. She carries her trademark ‘disco stick’ and wears chain linked glasses made of barbed wire. The chorus starts with Gaga along with her dancers progressing through the subway and dancing down a staircase. Her trademark dogs, two harlequin Great Danes, are also shown on top of the staircase. This next scene shows Gaga in make-shift kissing and caressing. As the camera pans from right to left the inspector changes from a man to woman in each frame. Gaga said, “This is all part of a movement. My artistry is much deeper than fashion or anything like that. I love pop music, and I want to bring it back. People are truly hungry for this. They generally miss the ’90s and the superfans flooding Times Square, crying and wailing and doing anything to see the fingernail of a star. I want that back, and [the ‘LoveGame’ video] is just another move towards that. ‘LoveGame’ is a genuine New York lifestyle video. It’s got that feeling of ‘gay, black New York,’ of inclusion and glamour,” I wanted to really bring forth the girl that I was four years ago, and I wanted to put it in the setting of the underground subway. I worked with Joseph Kahn, and he did an amazing job. He didn’t just capture the fashion; he captured the artist.”

This video and song is soo interesting and fun. It has a sexy flare to it that attracts people. It is so amazing, the choreography is so unique and interesting.

Disco Stick

The Disco Stick is one of the first creations of the Haus of Gaga in 2008. It’s first appearance was at clubs. The term “Disco Stick”

was used in a catch phrase in a bar. Gaga explains it as, “I was in a bar in New York and I said to this guy I was hitting on ‘I wanna take a ride on your disco stick’ and he just started laughing.” In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine Gaga explained the meaning and the inspiration for the song “LoveGame“. One line that they asked about was “Let’s have some fun this beat is sick / I wanna take a ride on your disco stick.” Gaga’s answer to the question was,  “It’s another of my very thoughtful metaphors for a cock. I was at a nightclub, and I had quite a sexual crush on somebody, and I said to them, ‘I wanna ride on your disco stick’. The next day, I was in the studio, and I wrote the song in about four minutes. When I play the song live, I have an actual stick — it looks like a giant rock-candy pleasuring tool — that lights up.

Gaga actually made her own disco stick with Dada (I have talked about Dada or Mathew in an earlier post). On the top is crushed acrylic plastic formed into a dome like shape. The inside of it consists of 18 small LEDs which let off the bright blue-ish white-ish light. inside the chrome pole are batteries, which can be accessed by unscrewing the bottom part of the disco stick. To turn the light on, there is a small back button. It then has an thick long black tube to protect it, which has crushed frozen acrylic at the top. Since the creation of the Disco Stick, Lady Gaga has used when performing LoveGame. The Disco Stick was seen in The Fame Ball tour in the songs: Just Dance, LoveGame and occasionally Beautiful, Dirty Rich. In The Monster Ball it’s only used during LoveGame. But it was used as a video camera in the new version of The Monster Ball where Gaga is doing a skit with fans.

In a skit on Saturday Night Live, Gaga and Madonna get into a staged cat-fight, over who is more popular and attractive. During the struggle, Madonna yells: “What the hell is a Disco Stick?“, referencing the controversy over the item’s concept.

3-Way (The Golden Rule)

Gaga was on Saturday Night Live on May 21, 2011. The song was written on May 19th and they recorded the next day; they also shoot the video on the 20th. Here is a quote from Gaga about them pitching the skit idea to Gaga,  “I wish that they filmed the backstage scenario as both Justin and Andy Samberg tried simultaneously to pitch this idea to me and they both choked on the way in. Justin was like ‘Umm so umm, we have a skit idea and umm, well I’m not really good at this I’ll have Andy tell you.’ Then Andy came and was like ‘Well umm bluh blah we have this skit idea.’ Then they both came in finally and they told me the story and I’m like, ‘Guys, I get it.’ They’re like ‘We really like each other.” On May 21st, the video was censored the word ‘dick’ in the phrase ‘helicopter dick’.

The lyrics,

Your mom says, “Hi” — Jinx!
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Yeah yeah yeah no no

Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Summertime in the city
And everybody’s having sex

You know I just got a page from a girl that I met last week at the Payless

Shoe stores

I also have a cutie to call who likes the way I knock on her boots

Well let’s help them back
Let’s handle that
In two-to-six hours,
We’ll meet back here and regroup

Now let’s shoop

Roll up to her crib with some Bartles & James
Hop off the bus with the Alizé
Now hold up player, whatchu diggity-doing here?
I should diggity-ask you the same
And she sang

[Lady Gaga]:
Hey, boys I want you both
I hope that you think that’s cool

(Say word?)
I know most guys won’t freak together
She forgot about the Golden Rule — a huh huh

It’s OK to put us in a three-way
It’s not gay when it’s in a three-way
With a honey in the middle there’s some leeway
The area’s grey in a one, two, three-way

Normally, I don’t get down with dudes
But tonight is a special exception (Great)
See you’re my best friend
Through thick and thin
Now it’s time to make a cool connection

Lights off

Here in the dark (Here in the dark)
It’s so hard to tell (So hard to tell)
Where her body ends (La la)
And my homie’s begins (Ew wee)
This rule dates back (The Golden Rule)
To ancient Greece (Takin’ about Caesar)
We’re two Jack Trippers and a Chrissy
The new Three’s Company

You guys are still here.

It’s OK to put us in a three-way
It’s not gay when it’s in a three-way
With a honey in the middle there’s some leeway
The area’s grey in a one, two three-way

Fellas. Get ready.
Do impress the chick
Helicopter d*ck, go! Hellicopter d*ck. Helicopter d*ck
Do impress the chick
Helicopter d*ck

And all of that was OK
‘Cuz it was in a three-way
It’s right there when you see the instant replay (boom)
Maybe two is enough
That’s what they’ll say
But we’ll say, “Hell no.”
It’s a one, two, three-way

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
